Managed a pole position and first place in Australia. Two wins on the bounce now with the Renault. I love F1. Watching it. Playing the game. Reading about it. All of it.

Back in 1995 I loved it even more.

Damon Hill had just lost out to Michael Schumacher in the last race of season. 1996 rolls around and I watched every race to see Hill lift the title. From that point on I went karting a lot and really enjoyed it.

Then Michael Schumacher started winning EVERYTHING. Ferrari dominated EVERYTHING. The karting place got shut down. I had stopped going anyway. When Fernando Alonso and Renault finally ended the reign and the sport got exciting again, I wish I hadn’t stopped.

No I can actually drive (accident free, driving for two years) and I wish that I had tried getting into a karting league of some kind. Being a Formula 1 driver was a childhood dream. The dream right now is obviously film-making (see, much more sensible) and that is the focus.

But I wonder how far I would’ve gotten in motor racing if I had tried.

For now though, the next race is in Malaysia and I have a 27 point lead over Mark Webber. Long live dreams.
